I've been thinking of ways "Spring, Summer Autumn, Winter... and Spring" could have been improved or how I would do it if I was to make my own version.

-The scene with the son tying stones to animals should still be present, but only only with one animal which will of course survive.

-The above scene should of course only last 4 minutes (at most).

-In a continuing theme, the bad guy of the movie (yes there needs to be a bad guy) will also tend to kill people by some method or other that involves tying heavy things to them. This will give the son more reason to hate him as the bad guy reminds him of a trait he is shameful to have had. This of course should be said by the characters so the audience get it.

-The bad guy will be killed by something heavy getting tied to him that falls off a ledge. When the bad guy clings to the edge and asks for help, the son should say "Isn't this exactly what you did to those other people" and stamps on his hands.

-The son of course does not kill his wife, but she is kidnapped by the bad guy. She is eventually killed by a bad guy prompting the son into revenge.

-I have absolutely no problem with the son and the girl having sex multiple times.

-The part about carving a sutra into wood to control ones mind after having let ones anger lead to murder should still be kept in the movie, but only as a story the father tells is son in three minutes while the son is practicing martial arts.

-The floating temple is, of course, cool, but should have a huge amount of concealed weaponry (RPGs, AK47s, grenades, at least one gattling gun etc.) that are suddenly revealed in a tense action sequence. Given that the temple is meant to be Buddhist which is meant to be about peace, this will give a sense of irony to the scene.

-It should also have a trap door into the lake that is used as an escape route at one point, probably from an attacking helicopter.

-The son could also use it again in order to launch a surprise attack against people who are holding his father hostage in the temple.

-The father doesn't just kill himself, but instead is killed dramatically by the bad guy while the son yells out "FAAAATTTTTHHHHEEERRRR" in a long protracted yell while being unable to save his fathers life and sets his mind towards avenging his death.

-The father being reincarnated as a snake should still stay in, but have it bite the bad guy at a pivotal scene.

-At the end of the movie, the son should say something to the snake, implying that the father-son bond would continue, even thought the father is now a snake.

-The frozen lake has great potential. At one point, armed assailed on ice skates attack and needed to be fended off. It should also involve sports cars racing across the ice exchanging gunfire. The bad guy's car is of course destroyed when the son trick him into driving one of the wheels of the car into the hole the son had dug in the ice to wash his face in.

-The part where the son makes an ice sculpture from a frozen waterfall is cool, but at that point the son should be attacked by assailants which he kills by using ice daggers that he'd also carved out at the same time.

-The baby son shouldn't be just given to the son, instead the baby is now 6 years old, is a slave to the bad guy, and is rescued from the bad guy by the son by the end of the film. At one point, the son and new son should speak, with the new son saying stuff like "I don't have any family" and "no one cares for me", of course, he doesn't outright say that he should be adopted by him because that would spoil the suprise of the happy resolution.

-The hooded woman is still present but no longer an anonymous woman, but instead the sister of the bad guy who disagreed with his evil ways and swore to fight him. She of course hooded herself to conceal the shame of going up against her one blood, and to keep her secret identity. She dies and is unmasked by the son with her final words being the vital information the son needs to put an end to the bad guys plans.

-The climb to the top of the mountain shouldn't just be to put a statue there, but instead to start a jamming signal that interferes with the bad guys technology or fire a rocket launcher towards vital bad guy equipment or plant a bomb that will cause an avalanche to destroy a bad guy's convey of army truck on the way to the floating temple (choose as appropriate). Of course, the weight tied to the son will not have been placed on him by himself or be easy to remove as that would just be silly.

-That song near the end of the movie should be replaced by one that is either R'n'B or rap.

-The two detectives believe the son to be guilty of the murder of his wife and spend most of the film chasing him. They discover the truth when they finally confront him and soon one of the detectives is killed by a henchman of the bad guy making the son and the remaining detective a temporary team. The closing scene of the movie should begin with the remaining detective briefing his superior on the situation as the scene fades to the son and the baby son by the floating temple as the detectives' voiceover continues to say how now hopefully they will be left in peace (even though in reality they would be called as witnesses in legal trials etc.)

Of course since the movie has already been released, it's too late for any of these points; but if there is ever an American remake, we could hold out hope that at least some of these ideas will be implemented.
